Instant heaven!  Yup, you heard correctly, this hot chocolate mix is so easy, so quick to prepare and looks hot, hot, hot!!!  It is sooooooo delicious you will have a hard time giving it away so make sure you keep some for yourself.  This gift takes about 10 minutes to whip up and the mix takes about that long to make into a delicious, rich, creamy mug of chocolate goodness.  Easy and yummy, that makes it my kind of gift.

First, find some cute mason jars to fill.  I love these square short ones – they look so good stacked together.  Next, get yourself some:

  • 1 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 12 candy canes – crush with a meat hammer

Combine first three ingredients to make hot chocolate mix.  I really like cocoa to create my mix, but you can use a pre made mix if you prefer.  Place mix, marshmallows and crushed candy into individual jars.  Then try to make it pretty.  I used some japanese origami paper to place over the lid.  You can also use fabric, wrapping paper or labels.  I tied my jars up with kitchen twine and addedd a little wooden card with a stamp on it.  THAT’S IT!  Easy, easy, easy.  Here’s another neat trick.  I make my hot chocolate in the Vitamix.  Yup, all in there, add some milk and just turn the switch.  Bam, after two minutes of blending at high speed, you will have extra thick, super creamy, delicious hot chocolate.  The combination of slow heating, marshmallows and the Vitamix’s ability to aerate the milk make’s the most awesome hot chocolate I have ever tasted.  One last trick, if it’s date night, add a shot of Frangelico – this will put your hot chocolate over the top!!!   Trust me, it’s ridiculous.

I was just lamenting over the fact that at Christmas we get a ton of homemade food and the problem is, it has to be eaten right away. Now with this, I can save it as a treat for later on. And how much do I love the wrapping job!

this is a goof one to try because it is so easy and the lids are so easy to make a little fancy – these are actually done with paper

This is great and looks so pretty in the stacked jars. I’ve made a variation of it for years but it’s only one serving. This will be better!

Do you use unsweetened powder cocoa? If so what brand do you like?
Can you tell me how many cups can be made by your recipe you posted? One?

Love the idea! Wished I had see this before Christmas. Will definetly be on the gift list next year and maybe during the winter months for a hostess gift. Does the recipe make one set of jars?
