Check Out: 360 Screenings

Posted by Dani on February 21, 2013

Take some of the best iconic movies of the past 30 years, mix in some live theatre, Toronto heritage buildings, audience participation, and a touch of mystery – what do you get? A great night out courtesy of 360 Screenings.

It’s always great to try something a little different for your next night out, and a movie event would be high on my list of fun things to do. Ned Loach and partner Robert Gontier had the right idea last year when they decided to take a movie and turn it into an interactive social event. Sign up, and you’ll hear about the secret location 24 hours before the event. The movie’s a mystery until you get there, when props, actors, food, and other thematic elements provide clues to the flick you’re about to see. Local cheeses, instructions to wear red, and a photo booth were clues at a recent screening of the charming film Amélie. And free fake bruises and lobster bisque were served up at a screening of Fight Club.

Immersive cinema meets live performance at these events. It’s a little different, and a lot fun. I’m signing up for their next screening, why not check it out yourself?
