Today Lifeovereasy had an opportunity to preview the 36th Annual Trinity College Book Sale at the University of Toronto. This sale is considered by some to be the best used book sale in Canada, and if you’re a book lover like me you can understand my excitement as I had a chance to look through some of the 100,000+ books already set up for the sale. These are sorted into 60 categories covering material from the popular to the obscure, with prices from $1 to over $100 for treasures in their Rare and Collectibles room. I have heard that student volunteer make a human chain to move boxes filled with books hand to hand from the first floor storage room to gorgeous Seeley Hall on the second floor of Trinity College. I first discovered this sale as a starving student over 25 years ago, and picked up many volumes that I still have in my library today. After a long hiatus, I recently began attending again with my teenaged reading-addicted daughter. We line up a few hours before opening on the first day (behind the die hards and veteran collectors who show up as early as 6 am!), and gear up for the crush of fellow book fans. I am already excited at the prospect of the box of “new” old books we will take home – great reading for the cold winter days ahead. Join us in line at the opening this Thursday!
