Daisy Bowl

Posted by Dani on June 26, 2012

I wanted to share another of my recent pottery projects. After I had enough hearts to decorate the wall on my deck, I decided to make a few serving bowls for my table. Here’s one I love – a hand built shallow bowl with applied daisies. This is made from stoneware clay, which is pretty durable, although it is a little thin – one of my fatal pottery flaws is making my work a little fragile. Here, I rolled out some clay into a thin sheet, cut out some daisies freehand, and applied them to the bowl with a little vinegar. The glaze held it all together very nicely. If you can get your hands on some clay, why don’t you give this technique a try?

This daisy bowl looks gorgeous! On top of that you made it, totally deserve a *high 5*! Did you take a class or just a hobby you started at home?

Thanks so much! I did take classes many years ago, but just recently started doing it again. It’s not very serious, just a fun hobby. Mainly I like playing with some clay while chatting with my sister (who also takes it) or other ladies. But it is extra fun when a piece works out well 🙂
