Decorating With Eggs

Posted by Dani on April 9, 2014

Easter place setting
This is a fun post. Nothing deep. We’re just talking about eggs. Getting you in the mood for Easter, which is finally around the corner. And after all the arctic temperatures and ice storms we’ve put up with this year, cute, coloured eggs are exactly what we want to be talking about.

Just a little spring inspiration is all.

What do you do with all those cartons of eggs you and your kids decorate each year? I usually put them in a pretty bowl somewhere, and that’s that. But this year I’m going to spread them around a little. Pretty up the house. Add a little Easter here and there.

Here are some pics to get you thinking. This egg is only decorated with a red ribbon – easy, non?

Easter decoration - white egg, ribbon, nest

How about these puppies? Even easier. Plain white eggs out of the carton, popped into a small coffee cup with some raffia straw. Sweet!

Eggs always look great displayed in a nest. You could make a similar “nest” with a rustic wreath and some moss.

These sweet quail eggs look great displayed in a pretty teacup.

Easter table decoration

And look at how these eggs look so beautiful simply set on a rustic surface.

My favourites of these are the simplest ones.

We have more egg inspiration coming up later in the week, so make sure to drop back in.

And why not have a look at the beautiful hand-painted Austrian eggs I picked up in Vienna last year. I’ll be putting these on some big branches on my dining table.

  1. I like the simple ones too but no-can-do when I have a very creative 8 year old here. Thanks for the lovely inspiration and maybe I should do up some eggs, just for me.

Heather, when it comes to Easter egg decor, I think the 8 year old should be in charge! But 1 or 2 for yourself won’t hurt, right?

  2. Thanks for all the ideas, Daniela. I really like the little red ribbons, think I’ll have to try that one out.

Gorgeous Dani! Your photos are so pretty and inspiring!

    • Dani says:

Thanks Andrea, but I can’t take credit for those gorgeous pics. We always take our own photography, but this post was an exception. We had a chance to use these pics and we loved then and thought we would share. It’s definitely making me really want to improve my photography though!

      • Andrea says:

Well you picked good ones! I was thinking when I looked at them…remember how we were laughing on fb about buying the marble slab…well I think we need to buy a slab of distressed wood too 🙂 It makes these photos look amazing!

Your photography is extraordinary. Make me wish I celebrated Easter. Just beautiful.

    • Dani says:

Well that comment would have made my day, except that these beautiful pics are not my own! Normally we always use our own photos but we had a chance for a stock photography freebie, and decided to share these pics. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I hope they are still inspiring for you. One thing they are inspiring me to do is learn how to improve my photography! Thanks so much for dropping by, Mara.

  5. So many beautiful and inspiring ideas Daniella!! Love them all but I think the eggs in the nest are the sweetest- guess I must be a bit of a traditionalist:) lol

    • Dani says:

Thanks Krista! I also love the nest arrangement. I think this year I will be going for a more natural and simple look. Thanks for dropping by!

  6. I love the simple ones, especially the red ribbon – it’s beautiful! They’re all so pretty and I’m feeling inspired!!

    • Dani says:

Thanks for dropping by Sheila! I do love the red ribbon one too – so simple, but I don’t think I would have thought of it myself!

  7. I adored the simple crinkle paper, white eggs and coloured cups, like REALLY! It’s wonderful! Oh and kick ass photos lady! xo Can I say ass here?

    • Dani says:

I’ll say ass here, as in “I feel like an ass.” Because these aren’t my pics!!! Obviously confusing, since we always take our own pics and I wasn’t clear enough in the post. But we had a chance to have some free stock photography so I grabbed a few pretty ones to share. I have a few more to post but I will be really clear next time. I really wish I could take pics like that!!! Cute ideas, though – right? I like that some are so simple. Thanks so much for dropping by, Laurie. Hope you have a great week!

  8. Kathryn says:

Those are such good ideas. I really need to start decorating for Easter. Maybe eggs will be it this year!

    • Dani says:

Thanks Kathryn! Some of these egg arrangements look fairly simple. I love the white ones with ribbon – you can’t get any easier than that, right?

It’s amazing how gorgeous a bit of red ribbon looks on that white egg. Love the simple ones!
