It’s that time of year again.
The annual Trinity Book Sale is on now. If you’re a book lover, just walking into that sale gives you a bit of a rush. Volunteers fill majestic Seeley Hall with over 100,000 books at bargain prices, and wait for the lineup of diehard fans to show up on the opening day of the sale.
This is one of my favourite events. I first started going when I was a student at U of T, and now I take my own girls there. This year, my oldest is away at university, so the youngest and I went together. We’re experienced attendees, and we brought our own giant (and strong) Costco bags to fill as we braved the opening night crowds. And Olivia, if you are reading this – don’t worry, we picked you up a few, too.
You can find just about anything here. The books are meticulously sorted into over 70 categories, from Anthropology to World Religion. The children’s section has all the current selections you would want, as well as some vintage classics that could have been taken from my own childhood bookshelf. As you can see from my pics, I love the older books, especially those in the rare book room where you can find some real treasures.
And there are a lot of quirky choices for the “unique” people in your life!
Trinity College book sale runs Oct 24-28, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday, and Noon-8 p.m. Sunday, at 6 Hoskins Avenue.
