Finding Inspiration at the New Media Literacy Conference

Posted by Nads on April 22, 2012

This week I had the opportunity to attend the most recent Nexus event  – the TIFF sponsored Children’s New Media Conference.  It was an impressive line-up of speakers, educators, and industry experts with a specialty in technology, education, new media, digital development and kids!  The conference showcased a wide perspective of subject matter; the relationship between literacy and technology, highlighted some seriously innovative players in the interactive technology space, and had some great hands-on workshops.  A key highlight was the presentation that covered the “Youth New Media Literacy Jam Project”,

an initiative that challenged a variety of kids related groups to incubate ideas and develop a finished product or initiative online.  The collaborative talent produced some results that were nothing short of impressive and demonstrated how innovative and progressive these kids could be.  What a day of innovation and inspiration.  Nexus is part of an ongoing series at the Bell TIFF LIghtbox- checkout more information on the speakers and participants here and take a sneak peak at some of the cool projects presented.
