We’ve been away quite a bit this summer, ending off with our family vacay out to PEI. One consequence was a lot of time away from the family cottage and more specifically, the garden and my usual escapades cooking and experimenting with all the garden goodness I cherish every year. So this weekend, we finally headed up north and I was able to dig in to all the fresh yumminess this warm weather has produced. Boatloads of vegetables – peppers, onions, leeks, beans, green beans, potatoes, beets, carrots and yes, the holy grail, the splendid, splendid tomatoes. Here’s a snap from today’s bounty and yes, we already began the canning process. More to come this week as I finally get some time in the kitchen, but in the meantime, Happy Labour Day.
