Goodbye Timmies Hello Paulette’s

Posted by Dani on September 4, 2012

Donuts are the new cupcake, haven’t you heard? If you’re looking to jump on board the gourmet donut craze, head over to Paulette’s Original Donuts and Chicken in Leslieville. Ultra-cute with a retro feel, this tiny place serves up comfort food with a twist.

Paulette’s makes cake donuts with a crumbly texture, available in 7 different flavours. We tried the Banana Coconut Cream Pie, the Rootbeer Float, and the Blueberry Balsamic. These donuts were nothing like any I’ve ever had before. The flavour combinations were unusual, and the donuts tasted just like the descriptions promised. Personally, the icing was a little sweet for me, and for a similar cost, I would still probably choose a good old-fashioned cupcake with buttercream frosting for my sugar fix. Still, Paulette’s knows how to take donuts to a whole new level.

Make sure to check out their fried chicken while you’re there – brined, battered, and double-fried naturally-raised free run birds. Apparently, it’s delicious. We’re putting it on our list for next time.

The goods sell out quickly, so arrive early.
