Hanging at The Highline

We spent an evening strolling through The Highline, poking around all the interesting nooks placed throughout the park.  The surrounding vistas are peppered with urban enhancements, sculpture, art and new buildings and architecture.  I find the concept of the ‘park’ so neat, in the air, above the city and in an area that is slowly being revitalized and re-born.


The High Line is built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on NYC’s West Side.  Under threat of demolition, The City of New York and the Friends of the Highline came together in 1999 to save and transform the historic structure, working to create an original and amazing public space.  You can read up on a few more deets about the Highline and its’ history here.

We headed over on a weeknight and were very surprised at how packed the park was.  So many people taking a little reprieve from the city below.  Awesome everywhere you look, here are some of my favorite snaps from our walk:
