Have you ever been in the audience of a TV show?
I had a blast today when my girlfriend Cathy and I had a chance to be part of the studio audience for The Social, CTV’s new daytime talk show. We are both long time fans of Elaine Lui from LaineyGossip, and we were excited to be able to see her live. Today’s show was basically a girlfriend gab fest, where the 4 hosts dished with designer Tommy Smythe about last nights Emmy’s.
I got to chat with my gossip idol, Lainey, who was lovely. And I even made it onto TV. Yup, there I am:
Here are some pics for those of you who have never been in a studio audience. This is the lovely audience-handling-girl, who told us how to laugh at jokes even if they weren’t funny, and to never ever chew gum on television. Beside her is the guy-with-the-chewing-gum-trash-bin, in case anyone needed it.
This is what happens during commercials, when they change up the set.
Here is another segment, from the audience perspective.
This was a fun (and free!) girlfriend outing. And they sent us home with a nice The Social drinking glass (although Cathy and I really wanted a coffee mug, so we could drink our morning coffee and feel gossipy). You can request tickets here, if you want to grab a girlfriend and head down. I think Cathy and I might make this a regular thing. We’re going to try to see the Steven and Chris Show next, strictly because they’re cute. And maybe George Stroumboulopoulos, because he has fun name and he bought our husbands a drink once when his handlers cut him in front of us in a TIFF lineup. We’ll keep you posted.
Nads is a marketing whiz, Dani is an engineer, but the blog is where we have our fun. We’re into photography and pottery, making anything and everything, cooking (Nads) and cooking-avoiding (Dani). Creating our lives and our spaces is what inspires us. We’re big on fun and friends and our crazy Italian family. Even our dogs are brothers!
