I had a chance to check out David Chang’s Williamsburg outpost of milk bar yesterday. What a brilliant concept. Anything that combines the childhood love of cereal, milk and decadent desserts is right up my alley.
We sampled the cereal milk and espresso shake – a perfect combination of icy, slushy ‘cereal milk’ coupled with a shot of espresso. I wish you could scratch and sniff the pics – it’s really difficult to capture the essence of cereal milk other than to say it really tastes like the leftover bowl of milk you slurp up after that multi-coloured sweet cereal’s all gone.
I am loving the diversity and whimsy in his ever growing empire and Milk Bar definitely fits the bill. What fun! Check out their selection of wedding cakes too – where were these guys when I got married?
No worries – rumor has it the Chang empire will be expanding to Toronto in the near future. I hope to see milk bar as part of the repertoire. Now why am I suddenly craving the Flintstone’s? Seems like a perfect throwback to the Saturday mornings of my youth…
