This Mamma Bird Loves Sue McNenly

Posted by Dani on April 23, 2012

At the Christmas One of a Kind Show this year I met Sue McNenly, who creates impossibly charming miniature vignettes in fine silver and gold. I loved her whimsical designs and we had a great conversation about her work, which made me like it (and her) even more. Sue had some beautiful flower pieces, with enameled daisies and poppies – 2 of my favourite blooms. But my sentimental heart fell head over heels for her “Out On A Limb” piece, showing a mamma bird and her 3 chirpy babies, which of course reminded me of my babies, despite the fact that they are now teens who are practically taller than me and know everything. Well imagine my delight when a custom Sue McNenly vignette showed up under the tree, this time with 2 babies and a mamma who looks like she is in the middle of a long lecture. The family had some fun with me and changed the title – can you see what it’s called?

“Don’t Make Me Come Up There.” Pretty appropriate for my nest!

And here’s a close up of me, in action.

We all LOVE Sue! She is talented, creative, witty and very down to earth. I had the good fortune of being her booth neighbour at the One of a Kind Show. Can’t wait to be together again this summer at the Muskoka Arts and Craft Show. No doubt Sue will have wonderful new vignettes for us to sigh over!
