Take the Meditation Challenge With Us

I am on Day 3 of the Chopra Center’s free online 21-Day Meditation Challenge. I have tried meditating sporadically over the years, and have always enjoyed the feeling when I’ve been able to actually sit myself down long enough to give it a go. Meditation is something that has well known health benefits. For me, it seems obvious that it would offer some much-needed balance in my crazy days. But it’s one of those things that is easier said than done – I just can never actually develop the discipline to make it a habit.

Many people think that meditation is difficult to learn. This is both true and false. It’s easy to know what you have to do, but much harder to do it. Basically, you just still your mind. There are many techniques you can use, but in essence that’s all you’re trying to do. Given the mind’s insistence on being active, that’s much easier said than done. That’s the great thing about this program – once you register, you have access to a daily online meditation where all you do is sit back and let the teachers from the Chopra Center talk you through 10 minutes or so of relaxing bliss. Easy! The first meditation in this series was read by Deepak Chopra, and his soothing voice had me settled down and relaxed within minutes. I think guided meditations like this are much easier to start with for beginners, rather than trying to quiet your mind on your own.

It’s not too late to join. Today is Day 3, but once you register you get access to the previous meditations and can catch up at your own pace. Some people believe that it takes 21 days to create a new habit – why not give this series a try with us?

    Let us know how you like it! I find i have been really enjoying doing the meditations right before I sleep. Might not be the best time to meditate, but it sure helps me get a great nights sleep!
