The Mother of all Mother-Daughter Trips!

Posted by Dani on October 7, 2011

Today is an exciting day at Lifeovereasy. I am heading out on a trip to London, England with my oldest daughter. It’s the first time for both of us, and we couldn’t be more excited. And best of all is that we have tickets to our favourite musical of all time, Les Mis!

This idea of taking these mother-daughter trips started with a long weekend in Montreal when she was 10. It was just an opportunity for us to have a great time and build some memories together. We took the train out, splurged on a stay at the funky W Hotel (www.wmontrealhotel.com/) and had an amazing weekend. Three years later I made sure to take a similar trip with my youngest. And so the tradition of mother-daughter trips started.

Somehow it seems much easier to bond when you’re away from home and not caught up in your usual routine. One-on-one time is pretty rare with our busy schedule. On these trips I have time to focus entirely on my kids – how often are you really free to do that?

I always say it’s the great times you have with your kids that help build connections that can carry you through the rough days. With enough of these, the challenging times seem to pass more quickly and feel less significant. The opportunities for mother-daughter trips don’t come along very often, so I am REALLY excited. My daughter and I are looking forward to loading up on lots of good times together over the next 5 days. Come back to see what we’re up to!
