Murrays for Sandwiches

Posted by Dani on August 4, 2012

Sometimes, food-wise, it’s nice to get down to basics, and a sandwich is as basic as it can get. A simple mix of bread and fillings can take you anywhere from boring to sublime – and Murrays tends to hit it toward the upper end. My daughter and I dropped in to check out this Queen West sandwich shop recently. The menu is basic but the taste is not – 9 savoury and 2 dessert sandwiches that hit the spot, all under $10. We chose the Chicken Tiki Tzatziki from their clever menu, with a Mama Jama chaser just to make sure the meal was super-unhealthy. The latter is Murrays’ take on the classic PB&J – a deep fried jam sandwich with a whipped peanut butter dip. Not something you’d eat every day, but we thought we’d go for it. These two choices were perfect for sharing – you would have to be pretty hungry to finish off both on your own. The simple, brick-walled interior is great for eating in, and these sandwiches made the perfect lunch. And it’s open late on weekends, so keep Murrays in mind if you’re looking for a late-night bite.
