Nad’s Not So Classic Pink Martini

I’m always on the lookout for new ways to spice up my everyday recipes or add my own little original twist.  Lately I’ve been experimenting with cocktails too, and I was in the most unlikely of places when inspiration struck.  Strolling through the Green Living Show this past weekend, I came across some samples of the Toorsh line of pickled products.  Their array of spicy vegetables is nothing short of fabulous. Now you have to wonder how excited one can really get about pickled veg but try this recipe for my version of the classic martini and you will be running out to stock up.  The beets in this recipe are slightly sweet, balanced with the right amount of tangy acid, and then followed up with a hit of spice and garlic.  WOW!  Plus they add the most gorgeous color to your drink naturally!  They make a killer cocktail, but are great in salads and sandwiches too. Look for them at your local specialty food store.


Every good martini starts with swishing some ice around a funky martini glass to chill it (in this case my new Missoni martini glasses) .

Use kick ass ingredients – local Canadian vodka from Oakville tops my list of favorites.

Add a slice or two of Toorshi Beets – awesome!

Don’t forget the brine and spice.


Stir it up.


Heavenly color.  Over the top yummy.


Nad’s Not So Classic Pink Martini

3 oz. Tag No 5 Vodka (currently hooked on this local Canadian brand brewed right here in Oakville!)
1 1/2 oz. Vermouth
1 oz Toorshi Foods Sweetfire Bits brine including some bits of spice and garlic
1 or 2 chunks of Toorshi Foods Sweetfire Bits beets
