Samantha Pynn Chats Kitchen Trends and Whirlpool Ice

Samantha Pynn Talks Whirlpool Ice

Spring is around the corner and it’s no surprise I’ve got kitchens on my mind.  We’re house hunting and the first thing I do whenever we find a house we’re actually considering is go and sit in the kitchen.  Sit and imagine, can I see myself cooking in here?  Does the kitchen ‘feel’ like I place where I can hang and create and make yummy stuff?  It’s also the place where I start to imagine (drool) over the opportunity to change, improve and create the place that will get me one step closer to the kitchen of my dreams.  I spend way too much time pondering that special stove and that killer fridge and thinking about the CFM’s in my hood.

I attended an event hosted by Whirlpool recently and had a chance to get up close to their new line of Whirlpool Ice kitchen appliances.  Speaking of drool, the all white sophisticated and super gorgeous line-up looked fabulous, behaving more like a suite of kitchen accessories rather than appliances.  These are a definite must have for my next kitchen reno.

The very lovely and charming Samantha Pynn was also in attendance, chatting about the new Ice Collection.  I took the opportunity to pick her brain on upcoming kitchen trends for 2014, as well as get some insights on kitchen reno advice and where she goes to get some inspiration.

What sites/blogs/retailers do you visit when looking for some inspiration?

What are some of the top kitchen trends you see for the coming seasons

All white appliances, creating galley like backdrops for art and accessories, appliances become part of that backdrop.

What are some of the best investments to make in your kitchen renovation

Invest in your appliances and countertop.   Backsplash is a small application so not a big investment and you can find well priced options.  And you can find sleek cabinetry at a low cost too.

When one is considering a kitchen renovation, what are some of the key  questions to ask yourself?

How do I use my kitchen.  Should it be designed for entertaining in the kitchen?  Are you an awesome cook?  Do you cook for yourself? Your small family? Your giant family – do you need two wall ovens?

What are some of the benefits of working with a designer on your home renovation?

Designers think of things that you won’t think of.  Many have been through multiple renovations so they have nerves of steel when something goes wrong (and something always goes wrong) and they can find quick and great solutions.

So say I’m invited to a dinner party at your house, what will I be munching on? What are your favourite party bites to serve?

This year I’m doing all cookies and champagne!

    Cookies and champagne? Oh yes!

(And how interesting that white appliances will be coming back? I never thought I’d see that!)

  2. What I also like is how SMART the appliances are. AMAZING. Sending husband an email now DEMANDING A RENO 🙂

  3. Jenn says:

I can’t believe white are coming back!! It would explain why my friend is looking for a white double oven and its twice the price of stainless steel!!!

  4. I think I want to go to her house for a party – cookies and champagne! You can’t go wrong with that!

    • Nads says:

I’d like to go to her house for a party too – just to keep talking to her – she’s so charming. Champagne doesn’t hurt either.

  5. I love her, she’s such a sweetheart on tv!

  6. What a stunning kitchen, that white backdrop is so fresh! What would you munch on at my house, I’m an east coast girl so sea food raclette would be what I’d probably serve… then we’d have an old fashioned kitchen party! 😉

  7. I’m not a white appliance fan at all BUT I am liking the new whirlpool white appliances (I even bought a wall oven in white).

  8. Shannon says:

Those are not my parents white appliances 🙂 I love how clean it looks and the focus is not on the appliances.

  9. We have white appliances. I like that we are able to hang our girl’s artwork on them with magnets. I also like stainless… but would love to switch to black. We’d just need to remodel our kitchen for that to happen.

  10. Okay, so I have had white appliances and stainless… Love how the stainless look when clean, but when there is a fingerprint or a quick spot wipe, I don’t love them… But I always love cute Samantha Pynn!

    • Nads says:

She is so lovable for sure! Not sure how these work with fingerprints, but it seems like they are much easier to keep clean. Stainless is a real pain that way.

  11. I’ve always liked white too, I think it’s timeless! Thanks for the fabulous tips!!

  12. Tia says:

Cookies and champagne? I’m going to the wrong parties. I’m digging the return of high-end white appliances; this is a lovely looking series from Whirlpool!

  13. I love Samantha Pynn – she’s one of my faves! Great questions, and I like where she’s going with cookies and champagne!! 😉

  14. Jo-Anna says:

Wow what a gorgeous look with the white appliances! I never thought we’d see them come back, but they look so sleek and pretty!

  15. Andrea says:

I’m a fan of Samantha Pynn and her style…of course she would serve cookies and champagne. So much classier than the chips and red wine you get around here 🙂

  16. Heather says:

Great interview and info on Kitchen trends! I love Teatro Verde too!

  17. Every time I visit your beautiful site I pin like crazy. You give me so many ideas for my home and for crafts and fun DIY time. I am moving next week and very excited about my new kitchen and my new space. It’s so true that we always walk into a home and judge it party by its kitchen. This space that I have lived in for 15 years has had the ugliest kitchen ever up until a couple months ago when we renovated in order to sell it. I am now happy with it, but I will be happier soon. That is a great interview. Off to pin your pix now.
