Here’s a super quick and easy Valentine’s Day project that makes an everyday object look like it came straight from a fab.com vendor. (My favorite criteria for DIY: low investment but looks awesome.) I found this plain white tray while I was cleaning out my basement and thought it would make a good backdrop for a Valentine’s message.
I think I picked it up at Target awhile back int he clearance section for under $10. I wanted to put some messaging on there and went to my local Michael’s to look for some stylish letter stickers. Of course they had some great selections in various sizes, I had something a little bigger than usual in mind.
I chose these Helvetica letters for their timeless design quality, but you can pick anything you like. Most stores have some type of lettering stickers available in their scrapbooking section. These were a steal at $1.69 for two. I chose a simple XOXO message, but I picked up another set of stickers with our initials for another tray I have. Too cute – makes me feel like I’m in grade 5 again.
You can also get inexpensive letters at your hardware store, the ones you can use for you address or mailbox.
With a little help from some painters tape, I laid out the letters in a straight line and was done.
Awesome, simple, fast and it looks great. Can’t wait to serve my hubby breakfast!
