Trend Spotting for Spring

Posted by Nads on March 24, 2014

outdoor oasis

Wrapping up my week of trend spotting at the HomeShow, I decided to leave the best for last.  Here are some jaw dropping ideas for outdoor spaces.  The idea of a ‘yurt’ conjures up the notion of a tent in the snow with some pelts but these are far from that.  Outdoor oasis?  Guest space?  Private getaway in your own backyard?

Traditional gazebos and patios move aside, these are some very unique spaces that may have you re-thinking your outdoors.  Check out the modern version of the ‘yurt’ above or the incredible outdoor living room below.  You may never come inside.

Geez, I need a new yard…

Check out this version of an inflatable tent-like space, made up of several different rooms, like an entirely separate apartment.  You won’t see this at your local KOA.

Another area with plenty of outdoor inspiration were the kid’s spaces.  There was a focus on creating outdoor play areas made entirely of reclaimed natural wood.  There are some gems here too.

I love the outdoor chalkboard idea – this would be perfect in any yard.  These gorgeous pieces of wood have been used as functional accents.  They look amazing and are perfect for the kids to climb, crawl and have fun with.

As always, lots to ponder while we wait for some warmer temperatures.  This time of year always puts me in the mood for a new project, who knows what will end up in the backyard this year…

Wow! These are very innovative designs and ideas. I have to get myself to the next Home Show in the city to see what it new. My favourite is the tent gazebo with the wonderful lighting and bedding. Now that would make for an up style sleep out in the backyard!

I love the idea of the wood play things and natural playground! we are big campers in the summer and my kids are used to running around the woods and climbing trees and fences.
    love so much of this!
