I told you recently about my Paris apartment – a charming 1 bedroom in the trendy Marais district that I was lucky enough to call home for about a week during March Break this year. Want to come in and check it out?
This was a last-minute rental that we found online and chose based on a few pictures and a leap of faith. The price was similar to a hotel, and it had a lot more to offer – loads of character, plenty of room for the 4 of us, and a sweet little kitchen we stocked with bread, cheese, croissants, and wine – all the necessities for any Paris vacation. It turned out to be a beautiful restored apartment in a 17th century building. Our charming pied-à-terre was a testament to my faith that holidays always seem to turn out amazing, even with minimal advance planning. I know this may not be a common or advisable approach, but it seems to work for us.
Here’s the main living area. Charming, non?
Here’s our cosy bedroom with some fresh towels laid on the bed.
And here’s the view into our charming sunken bathroom with the view onto a charming little courtyard. Have I used the word “charming” enough yet?
They even had some reading material and travel guides to help us find our way around.
This red bike was parked out in the courtyard. Notice the snow – no one was riding around town on this bike with baguettes and wine in the basket while we were there!
We were on the second floor above this umbrella shop. An umbrella shop! How absolutely charming!
It seems I can’t really stop using the word charming, can I?
Here’s the view from our second floor windows.
Looking out the front door window there was a lovely little bag shop.
It was a perfect spot to stay for a perfect Paris holiday. Come back in the next little while, and I’ll show you a few highlights.
