Welcome To My Life, Saeco

Saeco Minuto Automatic Espresso Machine review via http://lifeovereasy.com/
Coffee. It’s the glue that holds my marriage together.

This is because early on in our marriage, my husband developed the lovely habit of bringing me a nice coffee to wake me up in the morning. He leaves it on my bedside table, which makes the enormous effort involved in opening my eyes in the morning just a tiny bit easier.

I’m not much of a morning person.

You may think this coffee thing he does is an indulgence, but it’s not. Things like this are an absolute necessity in a marriage. You can forgive A LOT of things if you get bedside coffee in the morning. My husband is a smart man.

But he might be getting a little nervous, because I have a new morning best friend.

It’s the Saeco Minuto.

This baby has been taking care of all my coffee needs in the morning.

You should know I am extraordinarily picky about my coffee. I’m the kind of person who uses 10 adjectives to order coffee at Starbucks.

I was raised on strong, dark espresso. Back in the day, a huge mug of milk and espresso with a few cookies was considered a healthy breakfast in an Italian family like mine. On special days, you’d get some whipped zabaglione thrown in there. Yup, healthy.

And the astonishing thing is that I have always used a simple stove top espresso maker for my coffee. Here’s my well-used coffee maker:

It’s probably 20 years old. My mom even gave me a mini version when I first moved out. And I’ve never met a coffee machine that came close in terms of making the perfect cup of coffee.

But this Saeco Minuto has won me over. It’s easy to use, fast, and makes exquisite coffee. I can start my day with a shot of espresso, with or without my husband.

I feel a new sense of coffee independence coming on!

Here it is in action:

And this is what the espresso looks like:

That lovely frothy stuff on top is called crema, folks – and that’s a sign of a great espresso. People are being served espresso with beautiful crema in all the finest cafes in Italy, and now also in my kitchen.

This is what my morning looks like now –

Thanks, Saeco!

And the story doesn’t end here, either. I have the rest of my family to think of too. Rick likes his coffee Canadian style – long and less strong. He drinks caffeinated, I often like decaf. Sometimes we like a latte or cappuccino. And then we have 2 teens who have their own ideas, ‘cause teens always know everything. Can one machine satisfy the whole family? Or will there be coffee wars?

Hmmm…. stay tuned and see if the Saeco Minuto can keep this picky bunch happy. In the meantime, I need to keep testing out the machine. Time for another coffee!

Thank you to Saeco for sending me this beautiful espresso maker to try out.  All opinions are my own.

We too are coffee lovers, and frankly I cannot start my day without a good coffee. We have a fantastic Barista just a few minutes from our home, but as the weather is getting colder, its a lot less appealing to go outside for my double americano.

I do love making coffee on our stovetop espresso, but frankly its a bit hard on our flat top electric stove, it goes from delicious to burnt tasting without warning. Not to mention its a big production to grind the beans, pack the cup, and then clean the maker.

Now the Saeco Minuto machine looks totally amazing! Do you have to grind the beans, and pack them or does it do it automatically?

    • Dani says:

I am with you on the morning coffee. I don’t drink a lot of coffee, so when I do, I want it to be great. And I’ve had a lot of coffee from automatic machines that has not really been up to par. This machine makes a great espresso. It holds the beans and grinds them for each cup. There is also an option to feed in your own pre-ground coffee, which is great when I want to switch to decaf. I’m still exploring the other features of the machine, so stay tuned to hear my experience with latte, cappuccino, and long coffee which is my husband’s department.

  2. Um, he sounds like a keeper, just sayin’. But that is a gorgeous machine, wouldn’t mind having that sitting in the kitchen. We went with another brand back when we reno’d our kitchen. I do need that good coffee first thing too!

    • Dani says:

I’ll be keeping him at least a while longer, since he is practicing doing a palm leaf on the cappuccino, and I want to see if he gets it right 😉

  3. Christine says:

I’ve actually just started drinking coffee about a year ago. I still need my glass of orange juice in the morning, but enjoy a cup of coffee right after. 🙂 I’ve never heard of Saeco before!! Thanks so much for introducing me to them! Next, I need to try espresso!

    • Dani says:

Morning habits are hard to change, aren’t they? I find you need all the help you can get just to get going! You might find adding a little shot of espresso after your morning OJ will give you an extra boost!

  4. This looks great! I love espresso, great way to star the day

  5. Jenn says:

I am a huge coffee drinker but never had espresso! That is one beautiful machine! It would be a pleasure standing it on my counter!

  6. Stephanie says:

I’m not a big coffee fan, but my husband is. I think he would love this because he can make what he wants.

    • Dani says:

That’s one of the reasons I really like this machine – it keeps everyone happy! And that’s VERY important in the morning!

  7. Terri says:

I am a new coffee drinker and only one kind I like.
    Love your tea cups though.

  8. My hubs is the coffee guy hands down. He would be able to relate to the espresso, latte and upbringing coffee style. Me on the other hand, I am a simple coffee drinker – dark roast with a little milk and sugar – I’m not so easy if I don’t get my morning cup though! 😉 I love your stove top espresso maker in the first image – yes please!!

    • Dani says:

That stove top espresso maker has been with me a long time! But I’ll be packing it away – I’m really enjoying the new machine. And my husband is more your style with his coffee. Luckily the Saeco makes us both happy!

  9. Jo-Anna says:

OH do I ever understand your love and need of coffee! We’re diehard coffee lovers over here…I would die to have lattes made at home! This machine looks like a dream!

    • Dani says:

We are all in love with our Saeco! And the coffees are getting pretty fancy around here – the hubby is even experimenting with making palm leaves on the cappuccinos lol!

  10. That coffee machine looks great! We really, really should get a new machine – I think ours is on it’s last legs! Thanks and I will check out that Saeco Minuto.

  11. Shauna says:

Oh, I’ve always wanted one of these! Our current coffee maker is going on 10+ years (a good one!), but it’s starting to act up and the coffee just doesn’t taste the same. Need my morning cup of jo!

    • Dani says:

To be honest, this Saeco has really upped the level of coffee around here – definitely much classier 😉 I’m enjoying my mornings a little more.

  12. Lindsay says:

    Oh. My. Gosh.

I make my coffee using a Bodum, but I long for an espresso machine that is easy to use. We had one before that I found so complicated that I would only bother making coffee with it for special occasions. This one looks so simple!! I just need to find some counter space.

    • Dani says:

It is really simple – we’re all having a lot of fun with it lately. It does all the hard work for you. And our coffees have become a lot fancier, which I’m really enjoying. Thanks for dropping by 🙂

  13. Whoa, I’m glad for the heads up, when you come visit there will be no coffee, only wine! 😀 Unless you’re a wine connoisseur too? Then you’ll have to bring both. xo

    • Dani says:

Nope, as far as wine goes, I drink ANYTHING! So if I happen to come there early one morning, lets just drink wine first thing 😉

  14. Now I’m craving coffee! How easy is the machine to use? I’ve always wondered if I should get a higher quality machine than my little disc-reader, but in the morning I’m a complete disaster.

    • Dani says:

To be honest, this is pretty easy to use, or else I couldn’t manage it in the morning. I’m with you – I barely function!
