Shooting the annual Trinity Book Sale is really a labour of love for me. Just being able to wander through the stacks of books in stunning Seely Hall, having fun with my camera and examining some of the titles that grab my eye – it’s honestly one of my favourite days of the year.
I love sharing this sale with my readers, because it’s truly an extraordinary opportunity for book lovers. You can’t imagine the boxes of books I’ve come home with over the years! And at prices as low as a few dollars, I take the opportunity to fill my shelves with odds and ends that I would normally leave behind. And when I’m done with them, I just spread the book love and donate them so they can be used again.
I’ve found some gems over the years. I’ve come home with recipe and craft books, literary and popular fiction, autobiographies, and of course the obligatory self-help books that inspire me to fix all kinds of things about my life. In theory ;)! And I’ve bought many gifts over the years too, when I find something absolutely perfect for someone on my list.
My favourites are the rare books and oddities. This year, I found a 1972 copy of The History of McGill for my daughter who is in first year there. And an old 3 volume set of Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy, in Italian! That’s for my oldest girl who likes a bit of a reading challenge. This one is actually more than a bit of a challenge since she doesn’t really speak Italian ha!
I’ll let the photos speak for themselves this year. You’ll notice I focused on a lot of old books this year. You’ll find some gems in this category if that’s what you like, but you can find recent volumes, too. There’s lots to get a book lover excited in that room!

The book sale was my favourite part of fall, and the great finds were always the talk of the breakfast table in Strachan. Wish I lived closer so that I could go/
