5 Amazing Drink Recipes You Can Make With Frothed Milk
If you’ve been visiting lately, you’ve read all about my love affair with my new Saeco Minuto coffee machine. We have permanently packed away the old stovetop espresso makers, and joined the modern age of fully automated, freshly-ground coffee at your fingertips, just the way you like it. Our coffee standards have gone way up!

Over the last few weeks, we’ve played with all the features, and each of the picky coffee drinkers in my family has found their sweet spot. My go-to drink is a medium coffee with a shot of espresso, and I can get a cup of this any time I have a craving – in just a few seconds.

This post is all about the newest feature we’ve fallen in love with – the milk frother. This has opened up a whole new coffee world in my house!

One of the first drinks we tried with this machine was a classic cappuccino, and it was awesome. But we’ve adopted a Starbucks approach lately, and we’re becoming pros with the specialty coffee drinks. I thought I’d share some of my favs with you today.

First of all, I have a big announcement: this machine froths eggnog! Which means Eggnog Lattes are the new house drink! I actually squealed when I tried it the other day and it worked so beautifully. I’d been having a craving since I read a recipe for Homemade Eggnog Latte on A Pretty Life. I had to try and make my own, and the results were great! We’ll be having lots of these this holiday season!

And of course, a classic Caramel Macchiato:

A surprising winner was a Chai Tea Latte. We started by brewing some black tea with spices.

And then we just added our favourite new ingredient – frothy milk!

It’s been a lot of fun experimenting with these, and I love that it’s so easy to make myself a treat with this machine. I’m sharing the recipes below – you’ll have to give some of these a try. I’ve come to the conclusion that frothy milk makes every hot drink much better!

Note: The frothing process can really expand the volume of the milk, and this will vary depending on the frother you use. For this reason the amount of milk in these recipes is approximate. The Saeco Minuto expands the milk to more than double or triple in size. Some of this foam settles quickly, but most of the volume remains. Depending on the frother you use, you may have some extra milk left over in these recipes.

Homemade Eggnog Latte
(adapted from A Pretty Life)
Serves: 1 large or 2 small

1 medium coffee
1 shot espresso coffee to pump it up!
(should be about 1 cup)
½ cup eggnog
½ cup milk
¼ tsp cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
1. Brew the coffee and add to 1 or 2 mugs, depending on size.
2. Froth eggnog with the steam attachment of your coffee machine and add to mug. You can also heat the eggnog in a small saucepan and use a hand frother. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and stir.
3. Froth the milk in the same way and add to your drink. Top with a dusting of cinnamon and enjoy!

Peppermint White Hot Chocolate
Serves 1

1 cup milk
2 oz white chocolate, chopped
¼ tsp peppermint extract
½ cup milk
crushed peppermint candies
1. Froth the milk with the steam attachment of your coffee machine, or heat in a small saucepan and use a hand frother.
2. Fill your mug half way with milk, add the peppermint extract and chopped chocolate, and stir until the chocolate is melted. Fill the mug with the remaining frothy milk and top with crushed peppermints. Enjoy!

Nutella Hot Chocolate
Serves 1

1 cup milk
¼ cup Nutella
chocolate syrup for drizzling
1. Froth the milk with the steam attachment of your coffee machine, or heat in a small saucepan and use a hand frother.
3. Fill your mug half way with milk, add the Nutella and whisk until the mixture is smooth. Fill the mug with the remaining frothy milk and top with chocolate syrup. Enjoy!

1 shot espresso coffee to pump it up!
(should be about 1 cup)
½ cup milk
1 tbsp caramel syrup
½ tsp vanilla
1-2 tsp sugar (optional – I did not use this)
caramel syrup for drizzling
1. Froth the milk with the steam attachment of your coffee machine, or heat in a small saucepan and use a hand frother.
4. Fill your mug half way with milk, add 1 tbsp caramel syrup, sugar, and vanilla and stir. Fill the mug with the remaining frothy milk and drizzle caramel syrup over top. Enjoy!

Chai Tea Latte
