Fireball-Spiked Spice-Infused Orange Tea

There is always a good time for a great cup of tea.  First thing in the morning, little moments throughout the day, while driving in your car and especially in the evening, curled up and trying to unwind.

We pride ourselves on being picky about our tea, choosy about the ones we like to brew and even choosier about the right flavor for the the right moment.  I think we hit the jackpot here, this particular tea combo takes the cake.

I was asked to look at developing a little tea-cocktail from my pals at Alokozay Tea.  Specifically, a little riff on the their Orange flavored tea.  I wish I could have included a little smell-o-vision with this post.  A little bit of internet scratch and sniff that could somehow allow you to catch a whiff of the heavenly exotic fruity and floral scents that filled my home during my experimentation with this particular flavor.  Heavenly.  Just what I needed while I was steeping tea, spices and alcohol on these bitter cold evenings.  This particular combo was the bomb.  A little spicy, a little sweet, and a little bit tangy, spiked with a shot of cinnamon whiskey that made it feel like a big ol’ warm and fuzzy hug.  This was a winner.

Super easy to put together, I started with my Alokozay Orange Tea, steeped it with a few exotic spices, added some orange rind and lemon and topped it off with a healthy splash of Fireball Whiskey.  Pure genius.

Fireball-Spiked Spice-Infused Orange Tea

makes 2 drinks

500 ml water
2 bags Alokozay Orange Tea
4 strips orange rind
1/2 lemon cut into quarters
1 tablespoon honey
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cardamon pods
4 pieces star anise
3 shots Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

1. Bring water to a gentle boil and then add 2 bags of tea.  Steep until tea reaches your desired concentration.
2. While steeping, add all other ingredients except whiskey.
3. Let steep until tea cools slightly, about 10 minutes.
4. Add whiskey.
5.  Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.
