Shoes are important. Balance, alignment and health are important. And looks are important.
But how often can you get all three in one package? That’s why we were psyched to be introduced to the Vionic line of shoes recently.
Trust me, when someone says “new shoes,” comfort is not the first thing that pops into my mind. Mainly because comfort and attractiveness don’t usually go together. But ask me after I’ve gone an agonizing hour in uncomfortable shoes, and it jumps way up the list.
We all have our go-to ways of dealing with days when we are on our feet a lot. I’m sure you’ve seen someone tuck a pair of flip flops into their purse for when they need a little relief. The true test for me is when I can take a pair of shoes on a trip, and my feet still feel great after a long day of walking. Major bonus points if they look great with whatever I’m wearing. I’ve had a few trusty pairs like this over the years that I could not bear to throw away. And now I’ve found some replacements in the Vionic line.
These shoes were developed by podiatrist Phillip Vasyli when he realized he could build some of the benefits of custom orthodics into a regular shoe. They help balance pronation in your foot, and provide stability as you move. This improves the health of your feet, legs, and back. And this gets more and more important, folks, as the years go by! Trust me – I have the chiropractor bills to prove it.
I’m always interested in the science behind these kinds of claims. Here’s an interesting video that shows you exactly how these shoes correct excess pronation, and help solve all kinds of related health issues. The difference in alignment before and after using them is dramatic. It’s like having the benefits of expensive orthodics in an attractive, affordable pair of shoes.
The nicest thing with Vionic is that their styling is fun and trendy, and easy to integrate into your wardrobe. Who wouldn’t like a pair of animal-print wedges, or maybe some patent slides? And I thought the styles for guys were especially cute, so you should keep those in mind for you main man.
I’ve included some pics from the media kit, so you can get a feel for the look. There’s lots to choose from, including casual and running-type shoes. I have a pair of black slides I’ll be wearing around the clock this summer. Hopefully, I’ll be saying sayonara to my lovely chiropractor soon after.
