I’ve been on quite the juicing bandwagon lately with my new Kuvings B6000 Whole Slow Juicer. It’s been the perfect partner for my clean eating goals this summer. And the reason why I use it so frequently is that it’s fast to set up and clean. That was an important part of the criteria for me when I was looking for a new juicer.

Any time I have a craving for a fresh glass, I can just pull it out, run a few fruits and vegetables through, and soon I have a glass of goodness to drink. The assembly is easy, and the clean up is even easier. One of my favourite parts of this juicer is the rotating brush, which fits over the strainer and cleans the screen in an instant. The rest of the parts only need a quick rinse. With my old juicer, I dreaded the time-consuming cleanup process and for this reason I usually avoided pulling it out.  You can read more about the other important features of the Kuvings B6000 in my last post.

One thing that I really love about this juicer is that it does not jam up while operating. I like to juice a lot of hard veggies, as well as fibrous ones, and this has been challenging with other juicers I’ve tried. With the Kuvings B6000, I use the guidelines in the manual for food prep and I’ve never had an issue. The most important things I find are to chop my fibrous veggies like celery and kale into 4 inch lengths, and to chop hard veggies like carrots into ½ inch thick pieces (lengthwise). This is a quick prep, and means I can run all my veggies through trouble-free. If there’s ever a jam-up, all I have to do is run the juicer on reverse for a second or two, and it clears up.

One of my favourite things ever about this juicer? With the wide feed chute, you can drop in a whole apple! How awesome is that?

Apart from tasting great, I find I feel instantly better every time I have a glass of juice because of all the health benefits. I’ve done my research, and the Kuvings B6000 has some features that are important to me, including the patented low-speed masticating technology that squeezes and extracts juice instead of grinding the fruit and vegetables. This preserves more nutrients, minerals, and enzymes, and gives the best possible flavour. The low-speed system also extracts more juice and preserves the natural taste of the ingredients. A glass of this juice allows your body to absorb almost 4 times the nutrients from the fruits and veggies when compared to eating them raw. That makes me feel great every time I enjoy a glass!

With all the great features of the Kuvings B6000, I find my whole family is juicing more often. Everyone usually makes extra, and it’s great to reach into the fridge every so often for a juice boost.

Generally, I use whatever fruits and veggies I have available. Instead of relying on recipes, I tend to follow a few basic guidelines. I keep the mix heavy on the veggies and lighter on the fruit because I’m always trying to get more veggies into my diet. I like to include green veggies like spinach, kale, celery, and cucumbers whenever I can. I use green apples to boost the sweetness and help offset any bitterness from the veggies. I often add ginger or mint because I like the flavour, and I always add a squeeze of lemon because I find it brightens up the taste. I also like to add a few ice cubes to keep the drink tasting really fresh.
